"She let me share my story without judgement"

About: Fife Community Services / Community Paediatrics

(as a parent/guardian),

Phoned the Fife Neurodevelopmental parental advice line. After a short wait, I spoke to a very helpful member of staff - Gillian.

She empathised with my situation, recognised the difficulty of the situation for the young person and myself as the parent. She let me share my story without judgement. She offered recommendations that I could go with to a school meeting. This helped me feel empowered and more confident.

Speaking to Gillian helped me to un-muddle all the noise in my head that was stress, worry and not knowing what to do next. She broke it down and now I have a plan. Whether it works or not, I felt listened to and know that I can go back on the advice line should I need to later on.

Thank you.

Dear warmqe46

My name is Hilary Munro, and I have the privilege of leading the Speech & Language Therapy Service in Fife.

Thank you for letting us know about your positive experience with Gillian on the Neurodevelopmental parent advice line. Gillian is a Speech & Language Therapist with the Neurodevelopmental team. I am really pleased to hear that you found the call with Gillian helpful and through this conversation you were able to identify a plan that you were happy with.

The parent phone line is still relatively new in Fife, so I really appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback which helps us know that it is bringing benefit to parents who call in. I will ensure that Gillian is aware of your feedback and the difference you have told us talking to her made. I'm glad you know that you can call back if and when you need to.

Thanks again for taking the time to leave your feedback.

Hilary
