I had an open heart surgery, bypass at SBH. After which l was referred to Newham cardiac rehab service.
Was seen by a member of the cardiac team, nurse Chika at SHC. She reviewed my medications, checked my BP, height, weight and BMI. I was given information leaflets on dietary intake and medication side effects. She advised me on healthy lifestyle choices and educated me on the cardiac risk factors. She was very supportive and listened to me attentively. She made sure my voice was heard by giving me the opportunity to make my own choices.
I was enrolled on the virtual cardiac rehab education talk sessions. I had six sessions and l completed all aspects of the rehabilitation program. l had found the talks educative and informative. It taught me the causes and prevention of heart diseases.
Nurse Chika gave some of the talk sessions in the virtual session. She was very interactive and engaged everyone in the session. She is very knowledgeable and does her work well.
