"Kindness towards patient and close family"

About: Scarborough General Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a relative),

My elderly Grandad was admitted to Scarborough hospital recently.

The nurses in the A&E department were brilliant. Specifically Sinead, Sarah and Izzy. From start to finish they checked in on Grandad regularly and offered us drinks each time. They told us that if we thought there was a change in Grandad not to hesitate and they’d come, which they did when we needed them. Grandad had a side room on A&E and it took a while to get him on the ward. The nurses were apologetic and kind so we didn’t mind staying in A&E at all.

Grandad was then moved to end of life support in Lilac ward. Hannah received us and was really supportive so far.

Thank you for your comment. I am delighted to hear about the excellent care your granddad received from the Emergency Department at Scarborough Hospital. Our staff work hard to ensure their patients receive the highest standard of care, and we appreciate your positive remarks about the treatment your granddad received from the clinical and nursing teams involved in his care. Thank you for taking the time to write to us to express your gratitude during what I am sure is an extremely difficult time for your family. We value and appreciate feedback from our patients. If you wish to share details that will enable us to identify the staff, then please don't hesitate to contact Patient Experience at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust at either 01904 726262 or yhs-tr.PatientExperienceTeam@nhs.net. Again, thank you for sharing your experience.
