My mum has a tumour in her brain and was referred to Accord hospice for palliative care.
As well as the caring team there to support my mum through her illness, the team were also there for me. I was amazed, surprised but delighted that I was also being offered support. It really makes the difference when family and carer are also considered. The services and support for me (mum's carer) were counselling, complimentary therapy and Rest n' Restore. Each offered a different kind of support.
Counselling from Jay allowed me to 'open up' about my emotions, reflexology sessions allowed me to relax and have 'me' time with great supports from Anne Marie.
Rest N' Restore with Liz was the highlight of my week - what a laugh we had. I am not arty, but through art and meeting others allowed me to come away from my 'carer' bubble and feel like a daughter bringing "stuff" home that I made at the class. Mum looked forward to seeing what I was bringing home.
The girls are all amazing people. They get to know you as an individual person and that makes me feel special.
Thank you:
