My little boy, who has additional support needs, fell and cracked his head open Sunday night and I was terrified about having to bring him into A&E.
I phoned ahead and the receptionist said I'd have to bring him in and not to worry, as soon as we arrived the receptionist who greeted us was so friendly and understanding she put us at ease immediately.
We were quickly triaged where the nurse who saw us was so understanding, I cannot put into words how important this is - she didn't force anything, she spoke with kindness and respect and she asked me how best I thought to handle the situation at hand. The staff took my phone number and allowed us to sit outside so my son could stay calm before he was treated for his wound.
When we came back into clinic to have staples put in it was a big ordeal. The nurses were fantastic, they supported me and made sure he could handle the situation as best he could.
My son has had a lot of negative experiences with hospitals and receiving care but this time was so positive and restored my faith in the NHS. Thank you so much to all the team involved!
