"Referal Confirmation Letter"

About: Devon Referral Support Services

(as the patient),

The NHS is so short of money yet very time my GP or specialist makes a referral (of which there must be millions) I receive a letter.

Two pages, only printed on one side, that tells me y referral has been received.   It tells me I will

1.) get an appointment

2.) put on a waiting list

3.) he advice and guidance

This is pretty useless information which arrives a couple of weeks after my GP has made the referral.

In addition 9 times out of 10 I have either already received an appointment letter (the appointment is several weeks or months in the future but, I know I have an appointment or a letter tell me to ring and make an appointment or I have been contacted by phone, letter or through MyCare.

I know not everyone has MyCare but I've usually receive a letter in the post a couple of days later repeating the MyCare message.

I just think this is a colossal waste of money - two sheets of A4, the computer time to print It, the envelope, the postage and the man power involved in producing it, putting it in the envelope (even if there is a machine to help) and posting it.

To me the letter is pointless, it doesn't really tell me what's going to happen and as I've sad I quite often already know.

Please, please, pleas stop wasting money sending this letter out an spend the money on proper patient care.
