I have Cerebral Palsy therefore I am in a wheelchair and I require a hoist to get out and in my wheelchair. I go to Westmarc, Glasgow a lot to get my wheelchair assessed. as I require a hoist I can't use a standard disabled toilet. standard accessible toilets do not meet the needs of all people with a disability. Over ¼ million people in the UK with a disability need extra equipment and space to allow them to use the toilets safely and comfortably.
These needs are met by Changing Places toilets. so a changing places toilet have the all Right equipment in it such as a hoist, a changing bed and it is very big to move around for a wheelchair user and 2 carers.when I go to Westmarc I can't use the toilet because there isn't a changing places toilet and for a wheelchair service, I think That's terrible!! going to the toilet is a basic human rright so people like myself who goes to Westmarc should have a suitable toilet to use not just hold on until we get home.
I know a changing places cost a lot but SO! I believe a basic human right is more important then the cost therefore I would like to see Westmarc installing a changing places toilet.
