I had a stroke one morning in August. My husband called 999 and the ambulance was at my house so quickly. I was taken to Hairmyers where I was given a clot busting drug, I was then transferred to the Queen Elizabeth hospital to have a thrombectomy. I stayed there for a few days then was transferred back to Hairmyers where I stayed for a few days to recover.
I cant thank the staff in the stroke ward 6 enough for their care. There was one day where I must have been looking a bit down and a nurse come over to ask if I needed a hug - of course I did, so gladly accepted the offer!
She then helped me wash my hair and dried it for me - it felt great and made me feel a bit more normal. Every one in there was amazing though.
I was also so touched when ambulance crew who came to get me came up to see me to make sure I was ok.
I met so many amazing people during my stay in ward 6 - I can't thank them enough for my care
