"Their warm, gentle manner was so welcome"

About: Trauma & orthopaedics / Orthopaedic National Treatment Centre Victoria Hospital / Pre-assessment

(as the patient),

Attended a Pre Theatre Assessment in the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy. I'm awaiting a LEFT Hip revision and was probably more anxious than I'd care to admit. Met by Catherine, who quickly reassured and guided me through the process. She was fabulous. Weight, blood pressure checks and lots of paperwork to wade through was accomplished with aplomb. There is so little documented about my upcoming surgery and what is written is often a very gloomy read. I like to be prepared and Catherine was able to inform and explain whilst sharing that I had a long road ahead. She and then Jackie, who took my bloods, were so thoughtful and kind. They clearly share years of experience and haven't lost the personal touch so needed in this situation. Their warm, gentle manner was so welcome. A million thanks to them both.

Dear Elaine11,

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave feedback on the pre-assessment department.

I am very happy to hear that Catherine reassured you and guided you through the process. I am pleased to hear that Catherine explained everything to you. I am also pleased to hear that Catherine and Jackie were thoughtful and kind and had a warm and gentle manner.

On behalf of the pre-assessment team I wish you well with your upcoming procedure and recovery.
