"Staff member had no clue"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Pharmacy

(as the patient),

I was in hospital recently to get an open wound repacked for the first time which i am sure you know the pain involved getting the first repacking done...!!

I was treated with dignity and respect until i got to the pharmacy. I knew it takes them 20\30mins to sort out a script so i left it with them and told them my mother and myself would go get something to eat and lift the script on the way back..

30mins later i called in and asked for my script, the staff member looked at me like i had two heads, asked my name and walked away, they came back 5mins later and asked what i was meant to be collecting. They walked away again, came back and asked me to write my name and date of birth, they walked away once again, they came back and told me to take a seat...

I explained to them that the script had been left 30mins before so i did not have to wait as my pain level was 15 out of 10 but they said because i had walked away my script was thrown to one side so i would have another 20\30mins to wait. All I wanted to do was get some painkillers and go to bed, but I got some staff member who was acting like they were 3 days behind and had no clue on what to do.

I walked away in pain and a lot of anger, my mother stayed and the boss told her that a lot of the staff are trainees. That is great but I feel you need to teach them on how to do the job before you let them deal with patients.

I spent an hour getting my open wound repacked and rebandaged, i then basically spent an hour waiting for my script, like i said, the script was left at least 30mins before hand and nobody knew a thing about it when i went to collect it. The staff member who was dealing with me knew nothing and it looked like they cared even less.

This was one of the worst experiences of any visit to any hospital and i have had my fair share over the last few years...!

I am in a lot of pain and i am livid with the way that pharmacy seems to be run, or should i say "how it is not run". How can you leave a script with them as you are in so much pain 30mins earlier only to be told that you were bumped to the end of the queue because you left the room even though you asked them if that is ok and they say yes?

Pain level through the roof, depression rock bottom and there are people working in the pharmacy who seem to not know what they are doing when i just want to go home, simple as that..!
