"The support team helped set up a feeding schedule"

About: Fife Community Services / Breast Feeding Support Service

(as a service user),

I couldn't have managed my breastfeeding journey without the team at Breastfeeding Support Fife. I had multiple phone call conversations as well as several in person visits. My baby struggled to gain weight and I felt that I was being pushed to go down the formula route. I was reluctant to do this as I was concerned about my daughter having a reaction to formula as we suspected she had a dairy allergy.

The support team came to me, helped set up a feeding schedule and were so supportive. They reassured me when I was worried, kept in touch and celebrated when my daughter gained weight steadily. I was loaned a breast pump, without this I wouldn't have been able to express enough milk to go back to work. I can't thank the team enough for their help and this team are needed in Fife.

Breastfeeding is not an easy journey and for mothers that choose to do it, they need to be fully supported.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It's clear that the Breastfeeding Support Fife team played an essential role in helping you navigate the challenges of breastfeeding, especially when your baby was struggling to gain weight.

We're so glad that they were there for you with in-person visits, phone calls, and the support you needed to continue breastfeeding despite the pressure to switch to formula.

It’s wonderful to hear that they were able to provide reassurance and a feeding plan tailored to your concerns about your daughter’s potential dairy allergy.

Your story highlights just how critical this team is, not only for practical support but also for offering encouragement and solutions during challenging times.

We’re also happy to hear that the loan of the breast pump helped you continue breastfeeding while transitioning back to work.
