"Loud music in audiology clinic waiting area"

About: New Victoria Hospital / Health Records

(as a relative),

Attending audiology clinic today with my elderly mother who is very hard of hearing. 

Very loud music blasting in waiting area, evidently for the benefit of the receptionist. Totally inappropriate in an area where deaf/hard of hearing are struggling to hear what is going on.

Please try to think of the effect extraneous background noise has on patients.

I am really sorry to hear about your experience at the clinic. Please pass on my apologies to your mother. I appreciate that background noise can indeed be very disruptive for those who are hard of hearing, making it even more challenging to communicate and understand what’s happening around them. This will be discussed with the staff in the Clinic as they may not be aware of the impact the music is having on our patients.
