I was a little apprehensive about this procedure but, from the minute I walked in, the staff were lovely. The receptionist welcomed me and just few seconds later, a lovely nurse named Mercy took me through the admissions procedure.
After that I was brought to a room to get changed into a garment that covered everything (thank god) and before I knew it, Dr Rafferty had called to walk me up to the room where the procedure would take place.
The procedure was uncomfortable and at worst, a little painful but I'm glad I didn't have sedation or gas and air because the nurses, Bernie, Richelle and Shona and I chatted about my recent trip to India but, most importantly, Dr Rafferty was kind enough to explain what I could see on the monitor - I was fascinated. The whole thing took about 20 minutes. I felt completely at ease even though 4 people had full view of my back side... a sight not for the fainthearted!
In recovery, I was met by Darling who checked my vitals and got me dressed then Hazel came along to complete the admin side of things and to offer me tea and toast. Hazel chatted away as well and made sure that I knew what had just happened and what I should do if anything went wrong when I got home.
I felt in extremely capable hands throughout this journey which lasted 75 minutes from the minute I went in until I left.
My only issue was that I was given toast with little butter packs and a wooden knife to do everything myself but, because I struggle with dexterity, buttering my toast was quite a task. I wish they'd have done it for me, which, based on previous experience that's what usually happens.
I know that if I had asked though, that the staff would have helped me. They were all so lovely.
