"Amazing care received"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Major Trauma

(as the patient),

I recently spent just over a week in the Major Trauma ward in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where the care I received was quite amazing.

I received a very high standard of care from all whom I met: the doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists. The packet was comprehensive, covering all my needs. The staff were clearly dedicated to the NHS, and worked very hard to achieve a high standard.

Despite pressure of time, care was always given with a cheerful smile. The overall atmosphere of the ward was positive and encouraging, with staff working well with each other. Despite the severity of some of the patients' conditions, the place was happy and cheerful. The food- so often the butt of complaints- was tasty and beyond reproach. I felt very grateful to have been treated so well.

I was also very fortunate to be told- by several of the staff nurses- that a recently appointed young lady surgeon had been operating on people like me who had broken several ribs. This new operation meant that the overall structure of the ribcage was restored, allowing the lungs to re-inflate fully, thus preventing the consequences of prolonged lung collapse such as pneumonia.

I spent my life in the NHS, and was proud to do so; it was wonderful to find a team of people who can be more than proud to have achieved a very high standard of care.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback regarding the care you received whilst in Major Trauma Ward. It is lovely to hear such a positive experience despite you having suffered such a painful injury.

I will ensure to display this proudly to my team and on behalf of myself and the nursing team in Major Trauma Ward, we wish you well.

Thanks Again.
