"Immediately kind and understanding"

About: Fife Community Services / Breast Feeding Support Service

(as a service user),

3 years ago I gave birth to my first child and struggled immediately with breastfeeding in hospital. She wouldn’t latch and I was determined to make it work for both of us. Once we got home we still struggled and were referred to breastfeeding support fife who came to our house and were immediately kind, understanding, helpful and extremely knowledgeable.

I was lent a breast pump for 3 months and had continued support which led to my breastfeeding success story which continued for 18 months. If it wasn’t for the wonderful women from the team my daughter would not have learned to feed from me and I would not have had the knowledge and confidence to persevere. They saved our breastfeeding journey and their support was invaluable to me and many other breastfeeding mums in fife.

Dear Charliep

My name is Siobhan McIlroy and I am the Head of Patient Experience. I am sorry for the delay in you receiving a response.

Thank you for sharing your heartfelt feedback. I am so glad to hear about your positive experience with Breastfeeding Support Fife during such a crucial time in your breastfeeding journey.

It’s completely understandable to face challenges in the early days, and I am thrilled that our team could provide the kindness, understanding, and expertise you needed. It’s wonderful to know that the support you received, including the loan of a breast pump, made a significant difference and helped you both find success in breastfeeding.

Your determination to make it work is truly inspiring, and I am delighted to hear that you were able to breastfeed your daughter for 18 months. Stories like yours highlight the importance of the support network we strive to provide for new mothers in Fife.

Thank you for acknowledging the impact the team had on your journey. I am sure the team will deeply appreciate your kind words and your willingness to share your story, as it encourages other mothers who may be facing similar challenges.

Wishing you and your daughter continued happiness and health! Best wishes, Siobhan.
