I had my second son 8 weeks ago via elective c-section. My experience last time almost killed me and I was so anxious and terrified for this time round.
From start to finish, Airdrie community midwife Sharon was absolutely amazing. She listened to me and my concerns and she got me the experience I wanted.
Dr Malcolm was my lead surgeon and I cannot thank him enough for making sure it was the experience it should have been 7 years ago. Wishaw general anaesthesiologist Dr Peters and the team took extra care of me and made me feel so calm and well looked after.
Wishaw general midwife Jen that I had in the hospital were also fantastic, made sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed.
This experience should be the experience that people get with a c-section. If my experience was like this the first time round I wouldn’t have waited as long.
Emergency C-sections should not be as bad as they are. The staff and surgeon need to listen to women when they know their own body and know their limits. This would then avoid experiences like my first one, which almost left my child without a mother.
"They made me feel listened to and looked after"
