"Excellent Care in face of service strain"

About: New Stobhill Hospital / Minor Injuries Unit New Stobhill Hospital / Xray and Scans

(as a service user),

I attended MI during a very busy Saturday.

1. the reception staff were so level headed and kind to everyone despite being regularly spoken to poorly due to the contingency status of the service. The were so incredibly professional in their speaking and kind and compassionate.

2. the nurses in the actual assessment unit were so evidently overrun. However my nurse gave me time i needed as swift in her care and still had an upbeat and fantastic attitude. Very empathetic and swift in getting pain relief for me!

She also explained everything to me clearly and unpatronisingly and showed me my injury, explaining the indicators etc.

3. Xray. I was in a lot of pain and manipulation of my arm for xray was very difficult for me. I was very upset and scared. The radiographer and support staff member were fantastic. They were patient with me, they problem-solved well to reposition me and equipment to make it work better for the imaging. I was given so much dignity in a very vulnerable moment. The support worker supported my arm in between movements and was so kind to me. They were solution focussed and really patient centred, as they worked around my abilities within the pain limits.

Despite their busyness and long wait times when i was seen i was processed and treated quickly.

Thank you all so much for my care in a tricky time.
