Thank you for your feedback regarding letters arriving after your appointment has taken place. As standard we generally avoid sending letters when appointments are booked within 1 week's notice as we know it is less likely that they will arrive before the appointment, and I am glad to hear that you receive telephone calls to confirm your appointment as well. Sometimes letters will be sent for short notice bookings, or there may be delays in the postal service.

We are also in the process of moving our letters to digital as standard in the coming months for all patients who have not opted out of receiving digital communications. This means that you will receive the letter instantly to your phone or computer when the appointment is booked. This will reduce the numbers of postal letters we send dramatically, which has both financial and environmental benefits, as well as being aligned to how the majority of our patients want their communications. It will also mean that instances such as yours will hopefully not happen again in the future.
