I've attended Minor Injuries Clinic based at RIE (Little France) due to close proximity to my house, due to injury sustained a few days earlier.
The care I received was far from expected. One minute, short few questions asked, lack of willingness to hear my symptoms, assumption made re location of one of my injuries, no post x-ray self care provided (except "continue to take painkillers" - I've never said I was taking painkillers), no approx time of recovery provided.
Moreover, after I've asked about the post-injury physical activity, I was provided no advice (if to avoid or limit physical activity or consider gentle exercises), instead the nurse suggested I could contact GP to get a sick line (I didn't mention anything in relation to going off sick). Finally, not worsening advice given.
I do understand I've attended with injuries, not with life-threatening condition, and I would normally manage an injury myself rather than bother rather busy and understaffed health services.
However, due to the nature of injuries, very unfamiliar pain and the fact I was (and I still am) struggling to walk, which has an impact on my daily activities and hobbies, I wish nurse was more interested, willing to listen and provide advice I had hoped to receive. Sadly, it wasn't the case on this occasion.
"Felt like a fobbed off number"
