I have recently been made aware of potential redeployment for the breast feeding fife team. I feel this would be such a shame to loose such a valuable service and I feel it would greatly reduce the percentage of women breastfeeding in Fife.
I have 3 children and I knew this baby would be my last so I desperately wanted to breast feed. I faced so many obstacles when on my breastfeeding journey as my baby was hospitalised twice and had lost weight.
The team came to visit me both in hospital and at home, provided a breast pump on loan. And provided unmatched support and guidance to me. They helped me with my latch, baby position, how to breast pump.
They realised I didn't produce enough milk and they arranged extra measures to help me to breastfeed as long as I did. Unfortunately my milk supply dropped after a few months and was unable to continue but if I could still be doing it, then I would.
If it wasn't for this team I wouldn't have been able to get past the first week after my baby lost weight and I'd lost hope.
Thank you for such a great team and caring and knowledgeable staff your support was incredible.
