"I survived a cardiac arrest at home"

About: Cardiology / Heart Failure Nurses Ninewells Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

In mid-August whilst sitting In the house after lunch I suffered a cardiac arrest. Thankfully my wife was sitting close at the time and ‘brought me back’ for want of a better phrase.

She called 999 and two paramedics arrived within 15 mins. As I was about to leave the house get put in the ambulance I had another arrest. To cut a long story short I had another 4 in Ninewells hospital Dundee.

Within a few days I was fitted with a pacemaker and I am home and well.

From the minute my wife phoned the emergency services to date I have had the most wonderful caring treatment from everyone that I have dealt with.

It’s hard to pick out individuals when everyone has been so professional, caring and kind but I can remember a few. In cardiology, Stacey, Hannah, Laura and Emma. I was a wee bit dopey at times therefore I can’t remember everyone by name but if was told to give a negative response about anything regarding my stay in Ninewells I would be lying if I did.

I am coeliac (gluten-free required) and although I was prepared to supply my own food, the hospital kitchen staff were well versed in the condition and the GF food was delicious.
