"Useless and inefficient "

About: Queen Marys Hospital (Sidcup)

I brought my son in with severe allergic reaction, In my view life threatening as the neck is getting swollen. I find it hard to understand what the doctor was saying. I am afraid that doctor was not able to understand me fully as well. After waiting and seeing 2 people we received no help at all but given the useless letter for another hospital. I am shocked. Really bad…unprofessional. I am so very sad.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback, we welcome all feedback and hope the learning we take will enable us to improve our service.

I am sorry to hear that on the day you attended with your son you found the service less than satisfactory. As an Urgent Treatment Centre we deal with minor injuries and minor illnesses much the same as a GP practice would. We do not have access to diagnostics eg; blood tests, scans etc. Anybody suffering with a life threatening condition should call 999 or attend A&E.

I understand that following consultation you were given a letter and asked to attend another hospital, this would be to attend A&E for further investigations due to the reasons I alluded to above.

We do have a certain level of professionalism that we expect from all our staff and I am sorry if you felt you did not receive this on the day you attended.

I do hope your son is now recovering.

Kind Regards

Sue Hopkins
