"Fantastic service received"

About: Borders General Hospital / Accident & Emergency Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as the patient),

After suffering a broken clavicle in a remote location during a biking holiday, which required mountain rescue, ambulance and A&E at Melrose hospital, the service received from everyone I encountered during this traumatic time fully deserved positive feedback.

There was a consultant from the hospital as part of the rescue team, who kept me calm and relaxed during the transfer to the ambulance, the paramedics who listened to me and knew exactly what to say and kept me smiling, but especially the staff within A&E, of note was the advanced practitioner, Andy. His bedside manner, his professionalism and care was fantastic.

I took quite ill with the medication I was given and between him and the other staff on duty in the time I was there, I wasn’t made to feel an inconvenience or a problem, especially as I was taking up an entire room. Not only that but there was added complications in the fact I now live in England and potentially require surgery, which Andy went above and beyond to ensure that my local hospital were informed and I was transferred, as well as being gluten free, and one of the other nurses went out of her way to ensure I got some toast.

I cannot thank everyone enough for their attentiveness and care, and I really hope they are get the credit they truly deserve.

Dear Jacqui673,

Many thanks for taking the time to share your feedback here on CareOpinion. I am so sorry to read about what happened to you, that sounds terrifying. I hope that you are feeling better. It is great to hear positive stories about the work our wonderful staff provide.

If you wish I can pass on the feedback to the crews directly. To do so we would need to know the date, time and address that the Ambulance attended and of course your name. This information can be sent to sas.feedback@nhs.scot for the team to pick up. If you do decide to do this, would you be so kind as to make reference to your CareOpinion username so that the team can easily locate your story and share it with the crew.

I wish you all the very best and thanks again.

Kind Regards

Alan
