My friend has a prognosis of multiple myeloma. For some time he was undergoing chemotherapy at Hairmyres university hospital. Sadly he had to move to Kilbryde Hospice for end of life care.
I am very sad about this. He is a friend closer than a brother. We and our wives know each other through the common bond of our two very special boys who have an extra chromosome; also known as Downs Syndrome.
He and I love our boys very much.
My friend has been a stalwart of support to many families in our area and wider area; families of all creeds and kinds. He leads a large group of young adults with special needs in a Sports Disability Club. We meet regularly, and many of the club members have achieved gold, silver, bronze, and grade certificates. The young men and woman of this club achieved awards in various local, national and international events.
This hospice is a well-managed, professional place. Nothing has been too hard for all the team here.
The place is always clean and tidy. Everyone is very helpful.
