I was greeted and shown to the waiting room and asked if I’d like the television on. I was told Heather would be next to carry out the first procedures.
Heather introduced herself and did the following:
took my weight
took my height
my blood pressure
my bloods and
carried out an ECG
We chatted and she was very pleasant
All the while making me feel comfortable and then advised Louise would see me next
Louise introduced herself and made me feel comfortable and at ease
She had a direct approach and her job is to take details of all meds I am taking before I have surgery . This info is to inform the anaesthetist of my medication and my history of anaesthesia
This took quite a while to complete as there were quite a few changes to be made to my details held on the computer. Louise was very patient and at the end of her collecting my details she advised me that I could ring the team at anytime if I needed to speak to anyone regarding my time at the pre op assessment clinic.
All in all my visit to the pre op assessment clinic in Whiteabbey Hospital was very informative and I left with a form ‘Medicines Advice For Patient Prior To Elective Surgery’.
I felt special because of the care given to me.
