"The Centre enhances my daughter's quality of life"

About: Larne Adult Centre

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter attends Larne Adult Centre, 4 days a week, we drop her off in the morning and collect her in the afternoon.

She is up early in the morning ready to go to the centre, she has to hurry me up sometimes, she doesn't want to miss anything. The centre is her work and she enjoys the routine she doesn't like missing the day centre.

The staff are brilliant, if there is anything at all I know I can go and speak to them. The physio was great with my daughter but she is retired now. There is a good variety of activities, the choir, outings and wee celebrations of birthdays where they share their cake. The only thing I could comment about in terms of improvement, would be a freshen up or painting of the outside of the building. I often tell people do not judge the building from the outside, go in it's much better and welcoming.

The staff are just like part of our family, I couldn't do without them, it enhances my daughter's quality of life. I know she is safe, secure and being looked after, this means when I'm content that she is OK.

My name is Catherine Ward and I am the Clinical Lead for the Physiotherapy Adult Learning Disability service. I am pleased to hear that your daughter finds the activities at the centre so enjoyable and that my physiotherapy colleague had a good rapport with her. While we have had team member changes in recent times we have new staff who are available should a need be identified and they are getting to know all who attend centres. I hope that your daughter and our new team members can get to know each other over the coming months.

Thank you for sharing your story. I am delighted to read that your daughter enjoys attending Larne Adult Centre and that there are a good variety of activities offered. It is so great to receive your positive feedback regarding the staff and I will be sure to pass this on to the staff.

I have also taken note of your comment regarding improvements - freshen up/painting the outside of the building.
