"I am very grateful to the Palliative Team"

My father was diagnosed with Lung cancer in early January 2012. He went through chemo therapy with a lot of pain. He was referred to Marie Curie Hospice to attend day care. We had two people attend our house from the Palliative Team. Wali Naz and a nurse. My father would struggle to breathe and would constantly cough. Naz had been very supportive. He got my father a nebuliser and dropped it off at home. Because he could speak Punjabi, my father felt very comfortable and speak to him. He attended day care where he got a chance to meet people who were going through the same medical problems which assured my father that he wasn't alone. Wali would take time out to sit and talk to him. I felt confident that my father would enjoy himself and he did. There was a time where my father began to drive to the day care eager to get there.

My father has been at the hospice for almost three weeks now. Unfortunately his cancer has spread to his bones in his spine. He has been having mobility problems. Naz helped my father to be seen by a doctor and helped to arrange him a bed at the hospice.

There are so many other times that Naz has helped us with dad's medication and speaking to doctors, making appointments for us. I know that if had to do this for myself I would have really struggled. I can't thank him enough.

I am very grateful to the Palliative Team including the doctors, nurses and everyone who made my fathers time at the hospice comfortable.
