"Poor experience in hospital"

In November 2023 I was booked in to Ross Hall Hospital, Glasgow, to have a diagnostic laparoscopy for a gynaecological condition.  I was booked in as an NHS patient

Two very concerning issues occurred during my visit that were awful. Firstly, I woke up post op with the tourniquet still on my arm - it had been left on during the entire surgery & was only removed when I realised it was there due it causing bad pain in my arm and hand. I had to ask someone to remove it. No-one spoke to me about this, or apologised for putting me at risk, given that it had clearly been on my arm for a long time.

My second issue - after an hour back on my room, I asked for pain relief and was told I'd had some 20 minutes previously. I asked if they were sure as I didn't think that was correct, to be told they'd checked my chart and yes, I'd had pain meds. About 5-6 hours later I was discharged and asked when I could take my next pain med dose (as I was still in considerable pain) only to then be told I hadn't been given any pain relief at all post op. I asked why I was told I had been given pain medication hours earlier when in actuality I had been left needlessly struggling with the pain. I didn't get a suitable answer and left feedback - but was never contacted. 

One minor issue - I asked if I could use the toilet as I really needed to go, and was told I needed to give a urine sample. Staff member said she'd be right back with a bed pan (not sure if that's what it's called). I was apparently forgotten about, and had to chase up twice, including once when I could hear the staff members outside the room door, chatting for some time, so I opened the door to ask again, eventually getting the bed pan/sample bowl - close to an hour after I'd first asked to use the toilet.

All in all, it was an awful experience which put me at risk, and left me with zero pain management for 5-7 hours post op. I felt I got a poor level of care.
