"Eye exam was professional and easy"

About: Diabetes Services / Diabetic Eye Screening

(as a service user),

I got taken in as soon as I arrived, eye exam was professional, and easy. I was made to feel very comfortable in surroundings. Clinician was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. He kindly informed me that I could have had the eye exam in my local hospital in my hometown instead of travelling to the city. This would have been more convenient for me and saved a trip for me and my daughter.

I was told I might need eye drops and would not be able to drive afterwards, so my daughter took the afternoon off work to drive me there. The clinician changed the computer info so that next year, I should be able to have the test done locally, if all is well. I am wondering why this time the appointment was made in and not locally?

Good Morning slidepf75

My name is Amanda and I am the Programme Manager for Diabetc Eye screening in Tayside. I am glad you had a good experience with one of our Screeners.

To answer your question about location, if this is your first time attending for screening we have a very limited time frame in which to appoint and screen you. It may be that we had no clinic in your local area within this timeframe as we do not cover all areas every week. Therefore we would have appointed you to the nearest clinic available at that time.

if you would like to discuss this further please drop us an email at tay.eyescreening@nhs.scot and I would be happy to discuss further:)
