"My father in law was so well treated and cared for"

About: NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service) Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Ayr / Accident & Emergency University Hospital Ayr / Gastroenterology University Hospital Ayr / Intensive Care Unit

(as a relative),

My father in law was admitted to Ayr Hospital as an emergency in the early hours of 29th July. He spent some time in ED and the Critical Care Unit before being transferred to Station 9.

This is the first time he has been in hospital other than as an out-patient and I wanted to express the families thanks for the care he received. Without exception, every member of staff we met, including staff from NHS 24 and ambulance service, was kind, friendly and caring.

I received updates from the medical team while my father in law was in ED and the nursing staff in Critical Care were exceptional, a special thanks to Jamie, Amy and Elspeth and also Kirsty from Station 9.

At a time when the NHS is experiencing significant pressures it was reassuring that my father in law was so well treated and cared for. Thank you all so much.

Dear monk15,

Many thanks for taking the time to share your feedback here on CareOpinion. I am so sorry to read about what happened to your father in law and I do hope that they are feeling better. It is great to hear positive stories about the work our wonderful staff provide.

If you wish I can pass on the feedback to the crews directly. To do so we would need to know the date, time and address that the Ambulance attended and your father in laws name. This information can be sent to sas.feedback@nhs.scot for the team to pick up. If you do decide to do this, would you be so kind as to make reference to your CareOpinion username so that the team can easily locate your story and share it with the crew.

I wish you all the very best and thanks again.

Kind Regards

Alan

Dear Monk15,

Thank you for sharing your story on Care Opinion. I was sorry to read that your father-in-law was admitted to hospital but pleased to read that he was so well treated and cared for.

I understand from your story, there were multiple services involved in your father-in-law’s care. I reply on behalf of NHS 24.

I was delighted to read that NHS 24 played a role in your father-in-law’s patient journey and that all the staff involved were kind and friendly.

If you wish to share more information with me regarding the NHS 24 element of your feedback, then I could identify our staff who managed your father-in-law’s call and share your Care Opinion story with them. We always ensure our staff see positive feedback to reinforce to them how valued their care is when people call our service.

You can contact me or the Patient Experience Team by email at Patient.Experience@nhs24.scot.nhs.uk

I wish you and your father-in-law all the best and thank you again for sharing your story.

Kind regards,

Andrew

Dear monk15

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to share this lovely feedback about the care provided to your father in law in the Emergency Department and within Station 9, University Hospital Ayr.

Like my colleagues in NHS 24 and the Scottish Ambulance Service, I sorry to hear that your father in law required admission to hospital, but heartened to hear that he received such reassuring, prompt and professional care from our staff.

Our staff really appreciate receiving feedback from their patients and their relatives and it will be my pleasure to share your kind comments with the wider Teams who would have taken care of your father in law, and in particular with the staff you have mentioned by name. I know they will all be delighted to receive this feedback and it will be really encouraging for them to know that you felt so well supported by them.

Please accept my best wishes for your father in law’s ongoing recovery and thank you once again for taking the time to acknowledge his care experience.

Kind Regards

Pamela
