"Staff were all very polite"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Pharmacy

(as a service user),

It took over an hour today to collect my prescription. The staff were all very polite and seemed to be working hard but there simply doesn't seem to be enough of them. Waiting over an hour for collection of prescriptions isn’t acceptable.

Thank you for taking the time to submit your post detailing your experience at the Dispensary, ARI.

It is gratifying to hear that my colleagues were polite in their interactions with you and I will ensure that they are informed of your kind words.

As you mentioned, the Dispensary is always very busy as it is providing services for patients being discharged as well as to out-patients. The team and myself agree that waiting one hour for your medicines is not acceptable, our aim is to dispense medicines for out-patients within 30minutes and normally this can be achieved. On this occasion we did not meet out standards and I can only apologise for the fact you had to wait and were undoubtedly inconvenienced.

If you want me to investigate why your prescription took so long to be dispensed, please contact me directly so I can get the necessary details to enable me to do so. This sometimes highlights improvements we can make to our processes to reduce the likelihood of this happening for other patients.

Thanks again for you post and apologies for any inconvenience you experienced.
