"12 week ultrasound scan"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Blood Tests (Phlebotomy) Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Medical Imaging

(as the patient),

It's my first pregnancy and I was extremely nervous for the 12 week dating scan. However, as soon we went in, the sonographer reassured us straight away. They asked if it was my first and I said yes. I said I was anxious and they said okay let's find baby's heartbeat. They found baby's heartbeat immediately and myself and my partner felt relief.

The sonographer then measured our baby and was really friendly and supportive during the whole appointment. The female sonographer said hello baby as our baby kept putting their hand up as if to wave to us.

We could not have had a better Sonographer and because we were so happy and impressed we were happy to support the trainee who had a practice scan with the sonographer supervising.

Thank you and well done RD&E, the sonographer was called Jo and we had a great experience because of the compassion that was shown.

I have to say I was very impressed by the high level of care shown during our appointment that day by the Antenatal team and sonographer.

The only minor set back was the phlebotomist who took my blood caused me bruising and discomfort in one of my arms as it was not successful. The other arm where the blood was taken from ended up being fine though.

Overall a positive experience thank you.
