"Heart bypass surgery at University Hospital North Staffordshire"

About: Royal Stoke University Hospital

(as a carer),

My elderly father was admitted to the North Staffs hospital in December 2007 and had an emergency quadruple heart bypass operation in January 2008. He was an in-patient for around 11 weeks and was seriously ill. He received fantastic care from the surgeon and his team as well as from the staff on the heart attack wards at the City General Hospital.

I am a nurse myself and did actually undertake my training at this hospital. Post-operatively my father was skillfully cared for even though he had much to overcome in order to recover. He did not experience any ageism or any negative treatment and I am proud to be able to say how pleased I was with the care received - well done and fantastic! My father is now fully recovered and enjoying a much better quality of life!

thanks very much.
