I was recently admitted to DGRI short stay ward for total knee replacement.
I was very quickly taken into a room and all admin work was done, also spoke to occupational health along who were friendly and gave me all the information I needed. I then met anaesthesia ladies (Lucy & Keira) both were so lovely they put me at ease and answered all the questions I asked.
Then it was through to theatre (I was terrified) there was not one member of staff who didn't make me feel relaxed and cared for.
On return to the short stay ward and it was just brilliant, every single member off staff I encountered made me feel like nothing was too much trouble, having had the same operation over 6 years ago this was a completely new experience for me.
I can't remember all the members of staff's name but that doesn't matter because there was not one person (employee) who didn't put me at ease.
Danny kept me going with his smiley, confident nature, there was also a domestic lady who just chatted as she worked and melted me so relaxed, there is no way I can explain the difference these people made to my experience, they are worth their weight in gold.
I hope I never have to be in hospital again on but if I am, this is a ward where patients come first every day.
