I was suffering horrific effects of a prolapsed fibroid and was so badly affected i was unable to be far from my house due to chronic blood loss and the subsequent ill health from low blood count and low iron. I was identified for urgent surgery in January and it took place in April. More than once I called the surgeon’s secretary sobbing and begging for a date because things were so awful. I also ended up in A&E during the wait.
My experience of the surgery at the RAH in Paisley was excellent. The hospital is run down but the compassion, care and kindness shown from all NHS staff was actually quite moving.
This is a complaint for the political state of the NHS and not the brilliant people working with it. It’s a sad situation when urgent means 3 months and I felt for the staff working in pretty archaic and tatty conditions.
Overall I’m massively grateful for the life changing surgery and the care received - I just wish the NHS was better resourced and equipped to enable all the staff to do their crucial work even better.
