I had an emergency microdiscectomy under the care of Mr Grivas last year following a diagnosis of cauda equina. From the moment I met him I felt I was in safe hands. He took time to explain my condition, the planned surgery and recovery I would face. He listened to my concerns, put me at ease and made my admission a lot less stressful for me. Post discharge he was fantastic and continued to monitor me, again offering reassurance and listening to my concerns about my recovery journey. He demonstrated care and compassion throughout, I felt valued and listened to and overall his knowledge, skills and experience provided me with the best care I could have received. I think that had I been under a different consultant my experience could have been very different. He is a true asset to the neurology department.
