"Staff looked after me to a very high standard"

About: Borders General Hospital / Accident & Emergency Borders General Hospital / Acute Assessment Unit Borders General Hospital / Endoscopy Borders General Hospital / Gastroenterology

(as a service user),

I was due to attend an appointment for an endoscopy and ended up needing to be admitted for three days. I was to wait on a bed becoming available so had to wait in the endoscopy department until it closed at 1800 and then wait in A&E for about an hour before being admitted to ward 6 (MAU).

All the staff in the endoscopy department, the consultant, A&E staff and MAU staff from domestics, support workers to the nurses were all amazing and looked after me to a very high standard.

My son works at this hospital and it was so nice to see that he works with amazing and kind people. I could see first hand the pressures and challenges faced by everyone (mostly in A&E and MAU) but everyone kept smiling, laughing and caring which helped get me through my stay and I’m sure it helps the staff get through the harder of shifts.

Thank you to everyone.

Dear Thankful1968

Thank you very much for your kind words and sharing your story on Care opinion. Despite the pressures we do all we can to keep patients comfortable during their time in endoscopy and to support the wider hospital. I am pleased to hear the support was felt throughout your admission.

I will feedback your comments to the endoscopy team, I know this will be appreciated.

Best wishes

Louise Horne
