"Excellent support and service"

About: Fife Community Services / Community Paediatrics Fife Community Services / Health Visiting Fife Community Services / Speech and Language Therapy Lynebank Hospital

(as a service user),

When my daughter was around 2 years old we had concerns about her having delayed speech. Our Health Visitor Jill from Cowdenbeath Health Centre was amazing. She listened to our concerns and actioned them. Her actions allowed my daughter to start nursery 8 months early, which helped her speech enormously.

She referred us to the community paediatrician Dr Quinn and got the ball rolling with the neurodevelopmental assessment questionnaire. As well as ensuring she got other assessments to rule out any contributing factors.

Since then Jill has been an amazing support, always there to listen and advise. This year she also got my daughter swiftly assessed by physio as well.

Dr Quinn has also been very helpful at all of the appointments we attended at Kelty Medical centre.

Recently my daughter was seen by the autism assessment team at Lynebank Hospital. Vikki and Ranata were brilliant with her. She received a diagnosis that day. So my daughter has an official diagnosis before she starts school this month.

Due to all of these amazing individuals listening and using their expertise my daughter will be able to access the support she will need in the future. I'm forever grateful for the individuals we've encountered as I know not everyone is as fortunate.

Dear intensityec67

first of all thank you for posting your positive experiences of the health visiting service. It is very much appreciated and we are overjoyed to hear your daughter had made significant progress and that Jill, Vikki, Ranata and Dr Quinn especially have been instrumental in coordinating care and supporting you all as a family. It is wonderful to hear that they listened and made sure the right care was given at the right time to support your daughter and get her the support she needed to start school. The team always go above and beyond to ensure they provide the best care possible and they will be so happy to read your kind words.

I shall be sure to share this with all the teams involved and wish you and your family the very best.

Best wishes

Olivia

Thank you for taking the time to share your story with us and providing such positive feedback on the support you have received from our services.

My name is Susan and I am the Speech and Language Therapy Lead for the team who completed your daughter’s autism assessment.

Vicki is one of our Speech and Language Therapy team and Renate one of our Clinical Psychology colleagues. It is always good to hear that the different professions and services providing support for children and families across Fife are working well together to provide high quality care.

We have been working hard to ensure that families have easy access to the appropriate services and support they need and it is heartening to hear that this is your experience.

I will make sure that your feedback is shared with Vicki and Renate and wish you and your daughter all the very best for the future.
