"The impact of our meeting is difficult to put into words"

About: Belfast Health & Social Care Trust / Bereavement Services Royal Jubilee Maternity services / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I was struggling after having a silent miscarriage and I was trying my best to help myself in the situation - regular exercise, going for trips, going to therapy etc. I incidentally found out about bereavement midwives in RVH and I reached out.

I had a phone call with Barbara, followed by a face-to-face appointment with my husband. I am writing this to highlight that a single meeting with Barbara provided the most impactful healing and set us on a trajectory of further healing. She was so validating, empathic, knowledgeable and created such a safe zone. She worked overtime to accommodate our availability and was able to address both mine and my husband’s complex and differing emotions and mental state in a balanced way which was no easy feat. The benefits and impact of our meeting is difficult to put into words. We will be forever grateful for the care and support that she offered us.
