"They pulled together as a team for the good of the patients"

About: Mater Hospital / Respiratory

(as a relative),

My uncle passed away in the care of the wonderful staff in ward B-  he was admitted  after a fall and also pneumonia. The challenge of all this was he  had also suffered from dementia. The care he received was truly amazing.

All the staff -  doctors, nurses, palliative nurses, domestic staff, physios and occupational therapists - pulled together as a team for the good of the patients. I was a nurse for forty years and at times I have felt our standards are far from what they used to be, but honestly this really restored my faith in our service .

When you are sitting you can't help but notice they are a pretty young team, but teamwork was very evident, encompass has its challenges but the actual patient care came first. The ward was spotless, even though it was a respiratory ward there were a lot of confused elderly patients all staff were kind and courteous to them and more importantly took the time to reassure them no matter how busy they were.

I want to express my thanks to the manager,  her ward runs smoothly, her nurses are all amazing and it is reflected in her ward. There were staff who were going to do their nurse training and midwifery, they will be great and were encouraged by their colleagues.

Thank you ward B, won't ever forget yous.
