"Disappointed "

About: The Uppingham Surgery

I called into the surgery on Monday late morning to see if I could get an urgent appointment for later that day for an ear infection. This followed my call to Emergency Oncology at LRI that morning listing my symptoms and was told by them to arrange a GP appointment for that day or Tuesday morning latest.

The Uppingham receptionist could only offer an appointment on Wednesday and advised to try Ashdale Pharmacy next door to see if they could prescribe antibiotics.

I am a stage 4 cancer patient undergoing chemotherapy and susceptible to infections which, if not dealt with swiftly can lead to sepsis.

I am categorised as a Gold Standard framework patient which doesn’t appear to prioritise any appointments I may need.

Ashdale Pharmacy couldn’t help so I ended up going to Corby Walk-in centre where I was seen fairly quickly and prescribed the antibiotics I needed.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback to us regarding your recent experience with the practice. The Operations Manager has since spoken with you and we are grateful for your time in explaining in more detail the issues you experienced.

Our 'trigger' for identifying patients who have additional health needs failed and this has given us the opportunity to review our system and process. We have raised this as an internal learning event so that we may formalise this and implement the necessary changes required.

We are very sorry that you have been disappointed with our services and we will endeavour to learn from your feedback.
