I delivered a beautiful baby boy via planned C section in June. Unfortunately, my experience was not pleasant resulting in readmission to theatre within 72 hrs, requiring emergency surgery requiring life threatening treatment. This resulted in another hospital stay away from my family and frequent check ups for once discharged and delay in healing physically and emotionally.
Not only was my experience shadowed by poor communication skills, unaware I had staples in situ, for one but poor decision making skills resulting in me returning to theatre due to wound dehisence.
My wound needed completely re sutured at day 3 following the initial C section, and two weeks of antibiotics. I will not go into the lengthy details as this will follow at due course. I just want to express how traumatic this experience has been for me and family. If any woman feels like something is wrong, speak up as you know your own body. I was dismissed when I expressed initial concerns so it's important me to speak out to ensure learning occurs.
My experience was not all negative. A couple of midwifes following this were amazing caring for me in a holistic manner, listening to me and getting me well again. I would like to thank them so much.
