This time last year after already been on the waiting list for my daughter to see a speech therapist for around 6/9 months with constantly ringing for an update to when she was to be seen, I had to make a complaint as my daughter was refusing to speak to other children and adults because the didn’t understand her.

My daughter was due to start p1 and I knew she needed help before then. We got an appointment in Great James Street Health Centre with Bronagh. Bronagh straight away realised my concerns and we got start to work. I noticed the differences within a few weeks but I was still so worried because there was a lot of work to be done. Bronagh reassured me at every session. Some weeks was good weeks other weeks wasn’t as good because a child will get fed up.

Bronagh worked with with my daughter amazing, made every session fun. I can’t thank Bronagh enough for everything. My daughter is like a different girl, she can now mix with other children, has loads of friends and is now so confident with speaking.

Bronagh also helped me learn and support my daughter at home, for this I will be forever grateful. A year later here we are. My daughter has been discharged from Bronagh, I didn’t think this day would come so soon, only for Bronagh being so amazing, thank you so much, my daughter will miss you .

Dear Han01,

Thank you for taking the time to tell us of your recent experience of Speech and Language Therapy.

I am sorry that your daughter had to wait for her initial appointment, we are constantly monitoring and working hard to improve the waiting times for first appointments across the Speech and Language Therapy Department in the Western Trust.

However, I am delighted to hear that Bronagh was able to help you learn and support your daughter with her speech and language needs and that your daughter is now much more confident with her speaking and that she is mixing with other children and has loads of friends.

I have shared your kind comments and your valuable feedback with Bronagh and the Speech and Language Therapy Team in Great James Street Health Centre

Wishing you and your daughter all the best for the future.

Many Thanks Diane
