"Appalling treatment"

About: Pilgrim Hospital / Accident and emergency Pilgrim Hospital / Cardiology

(as a service user),

Admitted to Boston Hospital following a stumble at home and knocking myself out

My partner, finding me unconscious, dialled 999. The attending ambulance crew were excellent and carried out their duties with professional standards.

I was left, wearing just night attire, for 14 hours without food or water. Having no cash on me I was unable to use the vending machine.

Initially, on arrival in ACU, I was able to get some sleep.

I could not understand why I was in a Cardiac Unit when my accident was caused by me stumbling (I was diagnosed with requiring a knee replacement 5 years ago, COVID caused the operation to be cancelled.)

The following morning a Consultant (who had no knowledge of my case) refused to listen to me. The arrogance shown in dealing with me was appalling, so much so, I refused any treatment and signed myself out of hospital.
