"Went above and beyond for us"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Neonatal Unit

(as a service user),

My baby was born prematurely at 35 weeks. We had the nicu team waiting in theatre incase my baby needed any help. Unfortunately she did, but thankfully Jenny was there to help. Jenny not only got my daughter stabilised, she also kept my husband and I informed of what was going on which helped us stay calm. My baby was in the NICU for 5 days and I cannot fault the care she received, or that we did as her parents too.

Jenny also supported me in breast feeding my daughter when she came off of tube feeds. I was nervous to feed her with her being previously tube fed and also premature. But Jenny helped me latch her and encouraged me. My daughter is now 3 weeks old and exclusively breastfed and I thank Jenny for this!

All staff in the NICU were brilliant but Jenny particularly stood out for us as she went above and beyond for us and we are so thankful she was working the day my daughter was born and the days following.

Hello KBMc - my name is Grace Edge and I am the Head of Children's Nursing in the NHSCT. Firstly congratulations on the birth of your little girl and thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. I am delighted that you had such a positive experience of the NICU and the staff who work there. In particular I note your comments about Jenny who is a wonderful asset to our team. Please be assured your comments have already been forwarded to the whole NICU team and Jenny is aware of your specific compliment to her. Thank you again for taking the time to get in touch.
