"Appointment at the Bobby Moore Unit"

About: Sir Bobby Moore Unit

(as the patient),

I arrived at the entrance to The Bobby Moore Unit to find it locked. The 'button' to request entry was partially obscured by a steel plate, and in the same area as several other devices.

The reception completely ignored me (not even eye contact or saying I'll be with you in minute). When the receptionist eventually spoke to me, it was in a very officious manner, which inspired me to be monosyllabic in return.

By contrast the medical staff and consultant, were welcoming and even, I would say, friendly.

Good afternoon,

Thank you for taking time to share your recent experience with us following your appointment at the Bobby Moore Unit. I have been to the department entrance and note your feedback about the metal plate partly obscuring the button to request entry. The Bobby Moore Manager has escalated this to our Estates team to see if this can be moved to enable easier access to the buzzer.

I apologise that the staff on arrival were not welcoming. This has also been shared with the department manager who will discuss with the staff and ensure that lessons can be learnt following your concerns.

I am pleased that the rest of your appointment was supportive.

Kind regards,

Aoife Isherwood
