My 86 year old mother unexpectedly fell backwards into the road while walking home one weekend. She was helped up by some neighbours who walked back to her house with her to make sure she was okay. On Monday when she told me, I suggested she get checked over by her GP. That day she saw a nurse practioner at the surgery who checked her over and said that at her age she shouldn't be looking up. Two days later she was admitted to hospital with a stroke. She has had high blood pressure for a number of years controlled by medication which had not been reviewed with her for at least two years. It appears that their duty of care is lacking in places.
"Poor care"
