I recently had my first baby at the PRM and found the experience overall very positive.
I arrived at maternity triage having been contracting on and off for a couple of days. The midwife on the phone thought it was unlikely I was in active labour but offered to check me over, which I appreciated. When assessed I was quite well dilated so was moved to labour ward. They managed to get me into the AMU and into the pool, which was just amazing. My delivery was calmly and skillfully managed by the midwives, and I was able to have a normal delivery despite some signs of baby being stressed. Many thanks to Lynn, Stacey and all those who supported them in helping me have a positive birth experience.
I also can’t fault the staff on the postnatal ward, who were lovely and happy to help with feeding. I did really struggle with the noise of being in a six bedded bay though, so I was glad to get home on day 2.
