I was referred to the perinatal mental health team during my pregnancy and had been experiencing increased anxiety. I met with nurse Jordan who visited me at home and instantly she made me feel relaxed and comfortable and I knew going forward I would be able to work with her on the various things that were happening. We continued to meet 2 weekly, making plans for the future and discussing options available to me for support until my baby was born. Whilst in hospital Jordan called to check in and offer support if needed whilst me and baby stayed in hospital.
Once home Jordan resumed regular weekly visits and gave me so much support and confidence in my journey of being a new mum. We started with small steps and goals to challenge the anxiety I was experiencing. From advice on medication and treatment to encouraging me and celebrating every achievement with me and my baby, Jordan has had the most amazing impact on me as a new mum but also my confidence is so much better than I could ever have expected from her relaxed and calm approach to everything we worked on.
I will always feel grateful to Jordan for her continued dedication and helping me through the first 7 months of motherhood. She is an asset to the community and I hope that many more new mums are able to share that experience!
