I took ill and needed to be taken into hospital by ambulance at around 5.30 pm on a weekday evening . The ambulance crew arrived within 30 minutes and the 2 men were extremely caring, considerate and compassionate and took the utmost care of me on my journey to the hospital. One of the crew went above and beyond by coming into the CDU to check on me the next day, which was really lovely of him and I was very touched that he did this. Unfortunately I can’t remember his name but hope that you can identify who it was from the team in duty that evening.
On arrival at ED, the department was very busy with around a 7 hour wait. I was taken straight in to be assessed and then had to wait for almost 5 hours to be seen. Whilst this was not very comfortable , I could see how extremely busy they were so waited patiently.
Once I was seen I was give oxygen and pain relief and moved to CDU whey I stayed for 24 hours. The staff were wonderful and took very good care of me.
I was then moved to AAU3 where I stayed overnight & again i received the highest standard of care from the lady who brought me coffee to the doctors that looked after me.
I couldn’t have asked for better care and I am forever grateful for our wonderful NHS. We have ‘the angel of the north in Newcastle’ however we have the angels of central Scotland in our ambulance service and in our Forth Valley hospital.
Thank you to you all
